About M7

The Milwaukee 7, launched in September 2005, is the regional, cooperative economic development platform for the seven counties of southeastern Wisconsin: Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington and Waukesha. Its mission is to attract, retain and grow diverse businesses and talent.

The Milwaukee 7 continues to build the region's capacity and accelerate economic growth. Second campaign results (from 2010 to 2014) include more than 7,000 pledged jobs created or retained in the region – with an average wage of $49,088 (9% above the regional average) – and $653 million in capital investment. The M7 has also leveraged millions of dollars in federal earmarks, state assistance and other municipal investments for business projects that make the Milwaukee Region stronger and a more attractive place to do business.

Milwaukee 7 markets the region to companies looking to expand operations or relocate – from across the state line to around the globe. M7 provides the tools and the project management to guide companies from their first visit through the opening of their new plant or office. We have successfully closed deals and attracted foreign direct investment from companies in China, India, Great Britain, Spain, Italy and Germany.

M7 staff and their counterparts in local economic development organizations throughout the region regularly survey and visit companies to discuss business challenges and expansion opportunities. M7 can then connect companies to resources, including:

  • Talent sourcing
  • Real estate / location optimization
  • Financing options
  • Business incentives
  • Market expansion
