The 2019-2020 edition of Golf Digest's "America's 100 Greatest Public Courses" rankings includes 10 Wisconsin public courses.
The Straits course at Whistling Straits near Kohler is the highest-ranking of any course in Wisconsin at No. 3. The Straits course was ranked No. 4 in the 2018-2019 rankings and has been ranked as high as No. 2 on the list, which occurred in the 2013-2014 edition.
Whistling Straits is hosting the 2020 Ryder Cup next year. The course has hosted six major championships: Three PGA championships, most recently in 2015, two women’s U.S. Open championships and one men’s U.S. Senior Open Championship.
The second-highest course from Wisconsin on the list was Erin Hills. Erin Hills golf course, which hosted the U.S. Open in June 2017, has been selected as the host site for the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open and the 2022 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championships.
