Pet food manufacturer Stella & Chewy’s is expanding again in Oak Creek with a $30 million project that would create 82 new jobs, according to a Tuesday announcement by Gov. Scott Walker.
Stella & Chewy’s moved from Milwaukee in 2015 to the 164,000-square-foot headquarters plant in Oak Creek. It now plans to expand that facility over the next three years to keep up with demand for its freeze-dried pet food products.
The company is eligible to receive up to $500,000 in tax credits from the state of Wisconsin over three years if it hits its hiring and capital spending goals.
“Companies have many options in deciding whether to expand, and we commend Stella & Chewy’s for its continued commitment to Wisconsin,” Gov. Scott Walker said.
Founded in 2003, Stella & Chewy’s products are sold in more than 6,000 U.S. and Canadian stores. It currently has about 200 employees in Wisconsin.
Stella & Chewy’s was the first manufacturer to build in the OakView Business Park at South Howell Avenue and West Oakwood Road in Oak Creek. That business park is a partnership between Milwaukee-based Wispark LLC and the city.
